Making it home: free seminars to mark the publication of the Landscape Institute's latest position statement

The Landscape Institute will be launching its latest position statement on Housing at the Ecobuild event on Wednesday 3 March. To mark this launch the LI will host three seminars, which reflect the importance of the landscape profession in the development of housing and communities, at an Ecobuild fringe event.

Details of the seminars are as follows:

10.30 am - Seminar 1: Planning

The importance of landscape planning - Clare Brockhurst, Leyton Place, co-author  

Cambourne: case study  - Dick Longdin, Randall Thorp, Landscape Architects

Natural England perspective - Alison Barnes, Director for London, Natural England

Chair - Neil Williamson FLI, President of the Landscape Institute

 

12 noon - Seminar 2: Innovation

Pushing the envelope: Landscape at the cutting edge of Sustainable Delivery - Peter Wilder, MacFarlane Wilder, co-author of position statement, on the role of landscape in achieving innovative solutions for passive architecture, low carbon construction and green infrastructure in leading developments such as Wembley City, Athletes Village, Wales International Business Park, Rowan Road Merton and the BRE Innovation Parks in Watford and Ravenscraig in Scotland.

The Triangle, Swindon: case study - Luke Engleback, Studio Engleback

The Code for Sustainable Homes, landscape and the BRE Innovation Park - Jaya Skandamoorthy, BRE

Chair - Jo Watkins FLI, President-elect of the Landscape Institute

 

1 pm - Natural England 'clinic': an opportunity to find out more about the Natural Development project

 

2 pm - Seminar 3: Place and Design

The importance of landscape design/place-making and social issues - Noel Farrer, Farrer Huxley Associates, co-author  

Staiths, South Bank: case study  - Philip Barker, Glen Kemp, Landscape Architects

CABE Space perspective - Liz Hoehnke, CABE Space

Chair - Neil Williamson FLI, President of the Landscape Institute

 

Each seminar will be an hour long and will end in a debate involving all the speakers. You may attend as many seminars as you like but will have to book each ticket individually.
